It has been more than three years since Covid-19 attacked the earth. Through vaccination programs and various emergency measures taken at the global level, the impact of the pandemic is becoming less felt. Today the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 no longer a global public health issue.
Covid-19 is no longer considered an emergency case due to the trend of decreasing death cases, decreasing hospitalizations, decreasing admissions to intensive care units and also the high level of population immunity against SARS-COV-2 at this time. The Emergency Committee of the International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR) which held its 15th meeting today recommended that the emergency status should no longer be applied to Covid-19.
A total of 7 million patients died due to this virus with 37,020 deaths reported in Malaysia so far. Although many thought the pandemic was over, there were still daily reports of deaths and 14,291 active cases today.
