Windows 11 Will Be Able To Open .RAR Formatted Files Without Any Additional Software

Microsoft today announced a number of things, including the integration of support for additional formats on the Windows 11 operating system - allowing the opening of a number of document formats without any additional software.

Through the new support mentioned, Microsoft says users will soon be able to open .tar, .7-zip, .rar, and .gz formats without the need for any additional software. Microsoft made this possible by using open source projects and integrating native support into the operating system.

With this move, users can enjoy good performance, including native support for a number of these archive formats without the need for any additional software.

Microsoft aims to introduce this feature to Windows 11 users in stages over the coming weeks.
