Apple has today distributed a stable update for Apple TV which is tvOS 16.5. With this update Apple finally brings Multiview support to the public after a month of testing it during the beta phase.
Multiview is a feature that allows users to watch 4 different videos simultaneously on Apple TV 4K. With this new feature users can watch 4 videos in a grid view. Users can also arrange their own grid such as 1 large box + 3 small boxes in a row, 2×2 grid and interestingly if the user is focusing on watching in one box, just select another box to listen to other video audio. Press one of the boxes for a temporary full screen view.
Multiview however cannot be used on all content. It is limited to streaming sports content only. Examples are Major League Soccer games, “Friday Night Baseball” games, and live streaming of MLS and MLB.
In addition, MLS 360 and MLB Big Inning can also be watched in Multiview mode to get full coverage of the user's favorite sports team. Not sure if this feature can be expanded to Apple TV+ content, YouTube and others, but an interesting concept to make it easier for sports fans.
