I'm quite old and a transcontinental flight that takes tens of hours is not only boring but physically painful. There is an in-flight entertainment (IFE) system on offer but the content may not be interesting. It would be better to be able to surf the web but the WiFi charge in the airplane cabin makes us recall a bad memory of paying for the internet according to the number of MB used in the dial-up era.
If you no longer want the boredom of being stuck in an aluminum can in the air, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will offer WiFi to all passengers regardless of class starting this July. It is however only offered to passengers who are KrisFlyer members. They only need to register to use WiFi when making a ticket purchase or during the check-in process.
Passengers who are not KrisFlyer members can check in on the plane using the plane's WiFi through their smart devices. Previously, free WiFi service was provided to Suites class, first class, and business class passengers only. Meanwhile KrisFlyer members in premium economy and economy class are given free WiFi for up to three hours.
The free WiFi service can be used in all SIA aircraft except for seven Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
