Android TV 13 Development Halted to Focus on Android TV 14

Android TV is one of Google's slowest operating systems to receive software updates. Although Google TV has been introduced as a new generation TV operating system, most Android TV devices still use Android 10 and Android 11.

In December 2022 Google has launched Android TV 13 for developers to test. But recently the development of Android TV 13 has been stopped and the focus is on the development of Android 14 Beta.

No official changelog list was provided or information about new features to be introduced. Developers are also limited to testing Android TV 14 through Android Studio only because Google still does not provide any devices to install this new television operating system.

But through Mishall Rahman's announcement today, he revealed that there will be a feature to manually force HDR mode, either HDR10, HDR10+, HLG or Dolby Vision. Color changing settings are also provided in the accessibility screen. A new power consumption system along with other customizations of Android TV 14's front screen are also shown.
