Like most big companies out there, Apple is a brand that places a lot of emphasis on the ownership and use of their company logo. Recently, it has been reported that they have continued a court case related to the ownership of the logo against a company from Switzerland.
Fruit Union Suisse is an association in Switzerland that is seen helping fruit farmers in the country to promote their crops, and the logo dispute between these two companies is also reported to have lasted up to six years, and will be renewed again.
Since 2017, Apple has started filing trademarks, copyrights and exclusive rights to use their apple logo, and has tried to prevent Fruit Union Suisse from using their red apple logo with white bars.
Apple's reason is because the Fruit Union Suisse logo when used in other applications such as black and white can cause misunderstanding because it may be seen to have the same design.
Technically, Apple has already been granted partial approval for the rights to use their logo at the end of 2022, but feeling that it is not enough, Apple seems to want full ownership, and this is seen to prevent Fruit Union Suisse from using their existing logo.
Fruit Union Suisse has released a statement saying that Apple appears to want to claim ownership of all apple-shaped logos, not just Apple's own.
A report from Wired shows that this is not the first time that Apple has tried to obtain the copyright to the apple logo design in several other countries around the world.
