Apple TV May Support VPN With tvOS 17

The WWDC 2023 event already took place this morning with various products and software updates announced. In addition to iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch, Apple also announced tvOS 17 update for Apple TV.

For the first time Apple brings VPN connection support to tvOS 17. But this VPN connection is not for general users. On the other hand, Apple just wants to allow developers to come up with their own VPN apps for use on Apple TV.

VPN support has long been supported on Android TV, Google TV, Tizen OS or manual settings on webOS. With VPN coming to tvOS users can use it for a more secure Internet connection or access streaming content from other countries.

In addition to VPN, tvOS 17 also brings a new Control Center, allowing iPhone to find Siri controls, supporting FaceTime using the iPhone camera with Center Stage, video content with enhanced dialogue and even Dolby Vision 8.1 support.
