The era of using "clickbait" titles on articles was popularized by Buzzfeed more than a decade ago. Many people hate this despicable technique but it cannot be denied that it is successful in getting many people to click on the link to read this article. Artifact, an application that collects news from various sites announced that they will rewrite clickbait article titles using GPT-4.
According to Artifact, the majority of articles in their application do not use clickbait titles. But last month the "Mark as clickbait" feature was introduced to allow users to report articles with such titles. When many reports are received, Artifact will use GPT-4 to generate a more suitable title to replace the clickbait title.
This title will only be seen by users who press the "Mark as clickbait" button. But Artifact empowers human content editors to choose to give these rewritten titles to all.
