Baidu, one of China's leading search engines and also the country's giant internet company, now states that their Ernie AI model has already outperformed OpenAI's ChatGPT in several key metrics.
Baidu stated their model outperformed ChatGPT's offering in a number of metrics, particularly involving Chinese language capabilities on GPT-4. Previously, Baidu had introduced Ernie Bot last March, but it was still offered in a limited test form.
Baidu also stated that their offering is more efficient, operating faster and cheaper. Baidu says the new model of their artificial intelligence will support third-party plug-ins like ChatGPT already supported before.
The arena of artificial intelligence is now receiving a lot of attention, and various parties are racing to outdo each other through their respective models. In China itself, in addition to Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent are also developing their respective model offerings.
