DoBetter Group Champions Hackathon ImpactHack 2023, Bring Home RM30,000

 


Hackathon ImpactHack 2023 drew the curtain today with project presentations from the top 10 shortlisted groups out of 115 entries received. All those selected are seen working hard to give their best ideas and aspirations to win the main prize in the form of RM30,000 in cash and a trophy.



The participants were judged by an experienced panel of judges led by Sammer (Managing Director & head of Private & business Banking Consumer, Standard Chartered Malaysia), Dr. Afnizanfaizal Abdullah (MRANTI Technology Commercialization General Manager), Aaron Sama (ScaleUp Malaysia General Partner), Johan Nasir (Proficio Program Director) and Ahmad Irsyad (Manager, MDEC Facility Financing).



Each group was given eight minutes in total, of which five minutes were for presentations and demos. Meanwhile, the extra three minutes are for question and answer with the jury. Here is the full list of selected groups along with the type of project presented:


ActuallyTrayingHard (StanChart EmpowerCard) – A virtual prepaid corporate program aimed at providing great benefits to employees, without dealing with the complexity of claims and reimbursements for the company.

Banana Cash (ScoutSmart) – A tool that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) in helping SMEs choose the right location for business.

BrainJam (B4B) – A B2B mobile application that connects SMEs with industry giants, while also opening opportunities and empowering growth through networking, mentoring and collaboration.

BringBackControl (Track& Optimize 3D Inventory) – A solution to help warehouse owners passively track inventory in trucks, while also maximizing 3D container space in real time.

Demonstrable (OptiPlan) – A solution that revolutionizes SME inventory management with an interactive plan and automatic stock-to-order distribution. At the same time also ensuring optimal operations and order processes across multiple warehouses.

Data Rangers (SMECollab) – A digital platform aimed at empowering SMEs in Malaysia by connecting businesses for collaborative inventory and joint marketing initiatives.

Do Better (BizFlow) – A data-centric solution that empowers businesses to leverage data flow and AI-driven workflow automation solutions.

getBread (ShiftSync) – Dynamic scheduling that aims to help managers and shift workers achieve transparent and clear communication, in addition to effective time management.

Spooder Coder (Supply Chain Finance) – An application that connects entities, while optimizing cash flow and operations for SMEs through efficient financing and collaboration.

V-Cred (Farm Finance) – A project that allows farmers to get financing through remote sensing satellite technology and in-depth data analysis.

The competition ended after the DoBetter group was crowned as the overall champion and took home RM30,000 in cash and a trophy. The second place went to the V-Cred group and won a cash prize of RM20,000. While the getBread group was in third place by receiving RM10,000.



Also announced, a total of seven groups received consolation prizes in the form of cash worth RM5,000 each. It consists of ActuallyTryingHard, BananaCash, BrainJam, BringBackControl, Data Rangers, Demonstrable and Spooder Coder.



Not only that, there are also five other groups that have been given a special award, subsequently receiving cash worth RM1,000. Among those announced through it are Code & Capital, Simplify, EVO Hack, Code Baby and Bangbang Theory.



Hackathon ImpactHack 2023 has been taking place since 16 June through the joint organization of Standard Chartered, MDEC, MyStartup, Cradle and Microsoft. It was held with the aim of multiplying business digitization efforts, as well as opening a more positive space among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia.
