Eazeye Monitor Uses Ambient Light Instead of LED Lights

We published an article on the differences between LCD, LED, Q-LED, Mini LED and Micro LED panels a few months ago. If you read it you now know IPS LCD panels need a light source behind the panel to work. It requires a power source and is the reason why the screen cannot be looked at for long before it hurts the eyes.

Eazeye is a paradigm shift for LCD screen design. It does not have an LED light on the back but instead uses ambient light as a light source to work. According to its designer Louis Huang, with Eazeye the screen description is dependent on the surrounding light. Sunlight or a light bulb in the room can be a light source.

In theory the screen display is consistent with the ambient light reducing eye pain. At the same time without LED lights on the back, it also consumes less power than a normal monitor.

A unique idea but it makes Eazeye unusable at night without a light source and the brightness cannot be raised when needed. Eazeye is currently raising funds through Indiegogo crowdfunding at a starting price of $500.
