The government has already announced that it will start offering RM200 credit under the eBelia Rahmah initiative to all those who qualify starting next week. In parallel, the government also explained further, and emphasized that the RM200 credit given under this initiative is for physical use.
This step is seen to encourage the use of DuitNow QR payments in physical stores, as well as supporting retailers and merchants in Malaysia, especially PMKS.
Three e-wallets were selected for this initiative, namely Boost, Setel and TNG eWallet. All three support cashless payments via DuitNow QR at over 1.7 million retailers or merchants in Malaysia.
At the same time, the RM200 credit is limited and cannot be used for the following purposes:
"peer-to-peer" transfers;
cash redemption;
utility bill payment integrated with e-cash application;
Government-related fee payments integrated with e-cash applications;
telecommunications postpaid and prepaid bills integrated with e-cash applications;
purchase of games ("games") integrated with the e-cash application;
parking fees and/or tolls;
investment-related activities integrated with e-cash applications; and
e-commerce transactions or online transactions
