Gigabyte Updates BIOS To Patch Vulnerabilities On 364 Motherboards

Last week we published a security vulnerability report on Gigabyte's 364 motherboards putting more than 7 million owners at risk. It occurs at the BIOS level which means it will always exist as long as the firmware is not updated. Today this BIOS update was just given by Gigabyte.

Although this backdoor vulnerability was discovered, researchers did not find any evidence that it had been exploited by hackers to carry out attacks. To computer owners with Gigabyte motherboards, you are advised to update this firmware as soon as possible today. At this time it is not known whether this vulnerability was carried out by personnel, an attack on the supply chain or indeed accidental.
