Gmail's New Features Make It Easier for Users to Search for Emails

Currently, when users want to search for a message in Gmail, simply type a keyword or phrase, then this email service will display search results based on the latest email.

Now Google is reported to have added new capabilities to the search feature for the mobile application version that will make it easier for users to find the desired message.

Through the Google Workspace blog, Google explains that when users search in Gmail, machine learning models will use search terms, recent emails, and other relevant factors to display results that best match the user's search query. These results will now appear at the top of the list in the dedicated section, followed by all results sorted by recency.

According to Google, the feature is highly requested by users. Because when you want to search for a specific email with a specific keyword in it, it can take quite a long time if the search results only display the latest email.

Similarly, this feature will make people faster in searching and finding what they need in stored emails. The new feature is now available for individual Google account owners as well as all Google Workspace customers as reported by us from Neowin, Monday (5/6/2023).

The launch of the new 'smart' search feature will take around 15 days to complete. There is no clearer information on when or if this feature can be applied to the web version of Gmail.

Just like Microsoft, Google has tried to add more machine learning and AI-based features in its productivity applications such as Gmail, Docs, and others.

In March, the company said it would begin external testing of generative AI features into Gmail and Docs. Testing for the AI feature was expanded to 10x the number of external users before in early May.
