According to Google there are 360 billion PDF files that are inaccessible to blind and visually impaired users. To solve this problem, Google has used artificial intelligence on the Chrome web browser to convert PDF files to text.
Users don't need to download any plugins because everything is directly built into Chrome. With this new feature PDF files can be converted to text and then the existing screen reader feature can read the converted text.
This feature is built based on technology that gives a description to an image. This feature will be rolling out to Chrome on ChromeOS devices first soon. At the time of this writing, Google has not yet announced whether Chrome users on other platforms will also receive it or not. Let's wait together.
