Alphabet today announced that they will end Google Domains - a service provided by Google to facilitate the registration of various domain names through it. After operating out of beta for over a year, Google Domains has now announced it will be discontinued.
In parallel, various assets and user accounts will be transferred to Squarespace. Google says all Google Domains customer registrations and accounts have been purchased by Squarespace, and will go through the transfer process after receiving confirmation from the authorities.
For Google Domains users, there is no need to do anything, as the transaction will be done automatically. However, after the transfer, billing and purchases will be handled by Squarespace.
This latest move comes in line with all technology companies looking to reduce operating costs and make management more efficient.
