Grammys Allow A.I Use But Only Humans Are Eligible To Win Awards

The Grammy Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the world and it is quite well known. With the landscape of the music and creative world changing dramatically due to the recent use of generative artificial intelligence (AI), the Grammys have made changes to the eligibility guidelines for someone to win their award.

The latest guidelines insist that only human creators can win awards in contested categories. However, the use of AI in producing works is allowed. This may be in the form of background music programmed by a human writer.

The issue of the use of AI in creative work is a sensitive issue as it is seen to cause human artists to lose their jobs. The writers' strike in Hollywood right now is happening because writers want a clause banning their work from being used to train AIs that then produce scripts. Until now, the writer and the studio still refused to budge from their respective positions.
