LHDN : Tax Awareness Among "YouTubers" And Influencers Is Still Low


 LHDN or Inland Revenue Board is the party responsible for collecting taxes from taxpayers across the country. Sharing about the current development, the IRB stated that it had received tax filings worth RM1.21 billion as of last June 14, before the June 30 deadline.


The figure is still low when compared to the assessment tax in 2021, which is worth RM5.56 billion.


Sharing further, it is reminded that those who are qualified to fulfill their respective responsibilities. Especially those who run retail businesses, direct sales, booths, writing, singers, "YouTubers" and influencers.


Previously, the IRB was ready to emphasize that the income of social media influencers can be assessed based on the number of followers in addition to viewing content uploaded online.


It is said that the awareness of paying taxes in those circles is still low, when compared to their income from employment and corporate companies.
