L'oréal Lets You Make Your Own Lipstick At Home Powered by AI

Along with their slogan "Create Beauty That Moves The World", L'oréal has introduced a line of beauty technology that focuses on three categories namely hair care, cosmetics and dermatology.

Starting from the hair care category under the L'oréal Paris Professional brand, it introduced Water Saver as the first shower powered by Gjosa technology. This technology works for unique water fragmentation which in turn can produce water droplets 10 times smaller to save water consumption up to 69%. The shower is also connected to an app dashboard to enable live water usage monitoring.

Turning to a smart device that can personalize the color of lipstick to suit, L'oréal introduces Rouge Sur Mesure from Yves Saint Laurent (YSL). This device combines artificial intelligence and the internet of things (IoT) which allows users to personalize and produce their own lipstick color according to their skin tone.

Users just need to download the YSL Rouge Sur Mesure app in the app store. Through this application, users can scan their face, take a selfie or take a picture of the shirt they are wearing to match the lipstick chosen according to the user's suitability and desire. After that, connect the Rouge Sur Mesure device to the smartphone and it will produce the new color chosen just now.

Also developed is beauty technology from Lancôme, namely Skin Screen where it analyzes and detects user skin problems based on 13 clinical skin parameters such as redness, wrinkles and fine lines, as well as clogged pores. To analyze the skin more precisely, this technology uses three different lights for each corner of the skin and users can visit selected Lancôme stores to self-identify skin problems.

Apart from the technology above, L'oréal Groupe also introduced several other lines of technology such as virtual makeup testing from L'oréal Paris. This technology uses a face detection algorithm to give the impression of wearing makeup in reality. There is also Shade Finder from Lancôme which uses artificial intelligence technology through a skin analysis tool, Skin Genius to identify the skin type and subsequently recommend the color of the base powder (foundation) that suits the user's skin within 5 minutes.
