Malaysia Airlines Passengers No Longer Need to Turn Off In-Flight Devices Starting July 1

Passengers on Malaysia Arilines, MAS Wings and Firefly aircraft will no longer need to turn off their devices when the aircraft wants to take off and land starting July 1, 2023. They only need to change the device to flight mode only so that there is no disruption to the aircraft's electronic system.

This is to allow passengers to enjoy the entertainment content that has been downloaded on their device without any interruption. Last year MAS started removing the IFE entertainment system on their Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft with it being completely replaced by passenger personal devices.

At the same time MAS offers free WiFi service for all business class passengers and their business suits from 1 July to 31 December 2023. Enrich Platinum customers can also access the same service for free. It is however limited to 512kbps speed and 100MB data limit only.

MAS offer is not as good as Singapore Airlines which offers free WiFi to all passengers who are KrisFlyer members also starting this July.
