Netflix built an empire by offering streaming content in the form of movies and TV series. Lately they've been dabbling with live content through Chris Rock's comedy show and also the last episode of the reality show series Love is Blind.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Netflix is now ready to broadcast live sports events. It is in the form of a golf event involving celebrities from the shows Full Swing and Drive to Survive. This plan is still in the discussion stage at this time.
Netflix was initially not interested in offering live shows but the streaming landscape has changed a lot since they had to compete with Disney+, Max, Paramount+ and more. In India for example, the record for the highest number of streams was set last month by JioCinema which showed a live cricket match. Apple TV+ also offers viewers streaming of the MLS league.
