No More "Private Number" Calls After June 30, 2023

Today, there are several providers that offer a service to hide the calling number, and when a call is made to the other party, it simply displays the name of the caller as "Private Number" without displaying the name or number of the caller. The MCMC emphasizes that the service is not allowed.

The Communications and Multimedia Commission reminds that the activity of hiding the caller's number is not allowed, unless it receives a request from a law enforcement agency. This covers all calls and sending SMS.

The provision of this CLIR (Calling Line Identification Restriction) or "Private Number" service, which is offered as a value-added service to existing telecommunication plans, is in conflict with the provisions of the act. Therefore, MCMC gave time until 30 June 2023 at the latest to stop offering such services.
