The Optic ID pupil scanning system was announced by Apple today and it will be used on the Vision Pro headset. It is another biometric system used after Touch ID and Face ID before.
Optic ID identifies the pupil of the Vision Pro wearer which is unique to each individual. According to Apple, the twins' pupils are different to prevent the Face ID incident that can be unlocked by the twins will not happen again.
This system analyzes the pupil using LED lights that cannot be seen by the wearer. As with previous biometric systems, the user's pupil information is stored in a Secure Enclave that Apple cannot access. Through Optic ID, Vision Pro users can make application purchases, banking and fill in passwords automatically using only their eyes.
