RapidKL Attacked by Ransomware - Touch'n'Go Top Up Transactions Along the Putrajaya MRT Interrupted

RapidKL has just confirmed that part of their computer network, particularly on the Putrajaya MRT line has been attacked by ransomware recently.

Twitter user @hanapimana has asked RapidKL about why the Touch'n'Go top-up network along the Putrajaya MRT line cannot be used, and confirmed that it is an issue related to ransomware or ransomware.

Greetings illuminapi, for information, the network disruption problem is due to the ransomware issue, and the relevant parties are aware of this issue. We are working to ensure that the system is back in operation as soon as possible. – Razie

Although RapidKL said that they will fix this problem as soon as possible, they still did not give any time or date when it will be resolved. For now, RapidKL is recommending many people to top up on the Kajang MRT line or other locations.

In the meantime, apart from the Touch'n'Go transaction system, it is also unknown what other data is locked behind this ransomware hack.
