Samsung Starts Self-Development of AI Like ChatGPT

Last month Samsung and Naver signed a cooperation agreement to develop artificial intelligence (AI) for internal use. Samsung banned staff from using third-party AI like ChatGPT after it leaked company secrets. Today Korean media reported that Samsung has started AI training using their Language Model (LLM) model.

In order to allow the training to be carried out smoothly, Samsung issued a notice to the staff not to use the company's GPU for a while. Samsung is targeting that their LLM will be ready to be developed within two months before it can be used by staff by October.

Naver's help is needed for training and this major Korean search engine will use Samsung's AI chip in the future. The majority of popular AIs today are not trained in Korean causing a language barrier. Naver was previously reported to be interested in developing AI for other countries that do not want the United States to interfere.
