The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission today reminded local users to be careful and not download any application called "Pink WhatsApp" or "WhatsApp Pink" that promises some additional features. MCMC stated that the application was marketed and said to offer more customization control, better privacy, and the ability to send larger file sizes. However, after installation, it will access various user data and files on the smartphone, and bring serious security risks.
Users may receive invitations from friends or unknown parties asking to download this malicious application. It is requested not to install any applications received from suspicious links.
At the same time, people are asked to install apps only through official app stores such as the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery.
