Sony Launches Five 50MP Sensors Under the LYTIA Series

 


Last year Sony announced the LYTIA series of sensors that replaced their IMX series. This week five 50MP sensors under the LYTIA family were finally announced by Sony. It comes in five options each with a different physical size according to the device that wants to use it.


The flagship model is the LYT900 which is a 1″ sensor with a 50MP sensor size. It is designed specifically for use on flagship devices where high photographic capabilities are necessary. This is followed by the 1/1.4″ LYT800 with a 53MP multi-level sensor with high photographic capabilities.


Feature Model

LYT900 1/0.98-type (16.384 mm) 50MP CMOS LYTIA flagship model of 1″ for the highest image quality.

LYT800 1/1.43-type (11.2 mm l) 53MP CMOS multi-sensor 1/1.4” type with two transistor layers for high image saturation.

LYT700 1/1.56-type (10.24 mm ) 50MP CMOS with 1/1.5” sensor for thin devices with multiple levels of HDR.

LYT600 1/1.953-type (8.192 mm) 50MP CMOS step-up 1/2″ sensor for popular cameras.

LYT500 1/2.93-type (6.144 mm0MP CMOS with 1/2.9” sensor height for selfie camera.

Sony hasn't said which manufacturers will be using their LYTIA sensors but typically Xiaomi and Oppo are Sony customers so it wouldn't be surprising if their next device will be equipped with one of the five Sony LYTIA sensors.
