Another popular e-commerce company currently making a name for itself in the United States, namely Temu, is reportedly considering entering the Southeast Asian region. For now, they have started research including doing a census related to the current Southeast Asian market.
Temu offers a number of items at discounted prices, and most of them are shipped directly to consumers from China. This at the same time reduces the price of goods sold to end users.
Today, the Southeast Asian market is dominated by Shopee for the e-commerce arena – but receives fierce competition from Lazada and even TikTok Shop. Temu is a subsidiary of Pinduoduo which is popular in China, and Temu itself is ready to expand its offering to around 17 countries lately.
In addition to Temu, this year also saw VIPShop expand their offerings to the Southeast Asian market including Malaysia.
