The Dutch Government Will Screen the Admission of Students Who Study the Subject of Chip Development

The cold war over the silicon chip industry between China and the United States is seen to be intensifying, with several other countries colluding with the United States to ensure that China cannot develop an advanced semiconductor chip industry.

Recently, the Dutch government is reportedly enacting a new law to ensure that foreign students cannot study subjects related to the development of semiconductor chips in the country.

The Dutch Ministry of Education confirmed that they are developing measures to screen student admissions to universities in the country to ensure that information related to the manufacturing technology of semiconductor chip equipment is not leaked to the wrong party. It is said that this censorship is neutral and does not block students from any particular country.

If Taiwan and TSMC are the most important factors in the development of semiconductor chips and processing chips for well-known technology brands in the world, the Netherlands and companies like ASML are important to develop the necessary equipment to develop these processing chips.

In fact, this latest move is not so surprising especially when it has been reported that the Netherlands has also blocked the sale of equipment related to the production of semiconductor chips to China.
