Website Reddark Tracks Subreddit Sites Locked During Protests

 


Reddit management has recently introduced a new policy on their API usage, with one of the platform's biggest app developers, Apollo Reddit saying that the company's CEO, Steve Huffman says they have to pay $20 million (~RM92 million) a year to stay afloat. using the API.


Today, thousands of subreddit sites have been locked down in protest of this new policy which is seen to cause dozens of app developers and various types of services that use this Reddit API to be shut down by the end of this month.



The Reddark website has been developed to track these locked sites, and through the front page, it is seen that over 7000 Subreddit sites have been locked for at least 48 hours, with a number of sites such as /r/videos to be locked until management Reddit changed the decision regarding this API.


The site also tracks locked Subreddit sites in real time with a notification on the side of the site. It also tracks the number of Reddit users who subscribe to these sites, and it is approaching 2.5 billion users.


So far, the largest Subreddit sites seen locked include /r/funny with 40+ million users, /r/gaming, /r/music and /r/science with 30+ million users and /r/art, /r /videos and /r/food with 20+ million users.
