The recent increase in spam and scam calls on WhatsApp has angered users in the Asian region. In India for example it led to an official statement given by the Indian government urging WhatsApp to address this problem. Today WhatsApp announced a new feature that mutes voice calls from unknown numbers.
Through WhatsApp settings, users can choose to mute all calls from unknown numbers. The device will not ring but will be visible on the call log.
Second, WhatsApp also introduced a Privacy Checkup feature that allows users to control their privacy level. Settings of who can make voice calls, personal data limits can be accessed, and more can be controlled through the local hub.
