5G Headset Enables the Visually Impaired to Watch the Wimbledon Tennis Match Live

Visually impaired people are not necessarily blind. This is one of the misunderstandings of the public who do not realize that people who cannot see clearly can also be categorized as disabled. To enable the visually impaired to watch Wimbledon tennis matches live, for the first time a 5G headset was used.

The GiveVision headset is equipped with a smartphone that tracks the movements of the wearer's head. Video from cameras inside the stadium will be beamed directly to this headset. The user has a special control tool to zoom in and out to see the action on the court more clearly directly.

Vodafone's 5G technology enables this technology to be used throughout the stadium. Previously, the visually impaired had to sit within a special zone of 10 meters to watch due to the limitations of the video broadcasting technology used. With this set of ships, Wimbledon wants to be more inclusive and enable the visually impaired to enjoy tennis matches like other able-bodied people.
