In iOS 17 there will be a StandBy mode that allows the iPhone to become a smart screen when placed on the dock. Information such as time, internet of things device control and various notifications can be displayed on the screen when not in use. Now Mark Gurman who writes for Bloomberg says that Apple is developing a monitor for the Mac that also has the same features.
This screen is the same as ProDispaly XDR and Studio Display before but with StandBy mode. With Apple's monitors for Mac all having A-series Apple chips built in, including this feature on new products shouldn't be a big issue.
According to Gurman, when not used as a computer monitor, this monitor will automatically enter power saving mode and only display necessary information in StandBy mode. He added that development is being done and it will probably be launched in 2024.
