The government was previously ready to update the wholesale price for internet service providers in March 2023, at the same time it is expected to provide a price reduction to public users.
Commenting on it, MCMC has now stated that the sale price reduction for public users will only happen after an agreement with the telecommunications provider is signed. Currently, access service providers are in the process of issuing RAOs (Reference Access Offers), and various discussions are expected to be completed by September 2023.
MCMC also stated that any reduction in the price of broadband services is expected to happen only after that, and no definite date has been given for it.
In addition to the overall price reduction for all, for now, the government is also offering several internet packages targeting B40 users, including 30Mbps internet access at a price of RM69 per month.
