The BMW CE 02 was launched today as another of their futuristic electric motorcycles like the BMW CE 04 that was offered in Malaysia recently. Based on the numbers used, it is a more affordable version with reduced performance as it is designed for teenagers.
The CE 02 is equipped with a 15 horsepower motor with a battery pack that offers an operating distance of up to 90km on a single charge. It can be accelerated up to a speed of 95 km/h only. Therefore in European countries it can be ridden by teenagers aged 16 and over. There is also a version for 15-year-olds with a scooter license but the speed is limited to 45 km/h only.
Like the CE 04, the CE 02 has a boxy futuristic design with a disc brake system on both tires. It also weighs 132 kg and it can bear a maximum weight of up to 311.6 kg. There is an LED light in front with a TFT LCD screen used to display information while riding.
A mount for a smartphone is included for it to be a secondary display which is then controlled using a switch on the CE 02. The BMW CE 02 is sold at a price of $7,599 (~RM36,000) apiece. There are airbag accessories and a basket for stuff.
