At the time when Malaysia finally got attention from Tesla with the announcement of their Tesla Model Y vehicle offering that has already opened for pre-order, another electric vehicle brand, BYD also announced that they will launch another electric vehicle in the local market.
Recently, the interest registration page for the BYD Dolphin, an "affordable" electric vehicle from the electric vehicle brand from China, has been opened, and with it confirmation that it will be officially launched in the local market on August 23 through BYD Sime Darby, the brand's official distributor.
For now, it is still not known what variant of the BYD Dolphin will be brought into the local market, but based on what Soya Cincau reported, there is a possibility that the Standard Range and Extended Range variants will be brought into the local market, as what was done by BYD for the Thai market.
BYD Dolphin Standard Range comes with a 70kW motor with a torque of 180Nm and can accelerate from 0-100KM/J in 12.3 seconds. The BYD Dolphin Extended Range comes with a 150kW motor with a torque of 350Nm and can accelerate from 0-100KM/J in just seven seconds.
The BYD Dolphin Standard Range comes with a 44.9kWh battery and has a WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) range of 340KM, while the Extended Range model has a battery capacity of 60.48kWh and a WLTP range of 427KM.
The uniqueness of the BYD Blade Battery used in this vehicle is that it is designed to load more lithium iron phosphate cells that are not only in it, but the arrangement also ensures that this battery remains strong, allowing it to perform at a longer distance and be durable for an electric vehicle. in this class.
Just like many electric vehicles today, it also comes with a large touch screen display that houses various features of this vehicle, including the built-in inforia system. It can also be adjusted in vertical and horizontal position, depending on your usage pattern.
It also uses the e-Platform 3.0 electric vehicle platform developed by itself which allows the BYD Dolphin to be an electric vehicle that is not only high performance, but also efficient in energy consumption, and easy to develop for mass production.
For now, just like the model brought in, the details about the BYD Dolphin's price are also still unknown, and are expected to be revealed during its official launch event.
