Maxis is the only giant telco in Malaysia that has yet to reveal their own 5G network plans, and is being very quiet about it.
During the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional Civic Tour campaign in Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Tanjung Karang, Minister of Communications and Multimedia Fahmi Fadzil showed the SpeedTest.net benchmark score which showed a download speed as fast as 692Mbps and an upload speed of 62.2Mbps in the area. .
What is interesting is that the telecommunications service he is using is Maxis 5G, and as we said before, they are yet to come with their 5G offering.
The Star LifestyleTech has confirmed by asking Fahmi Fadzil, and reports that he is part of the telecommunication company's 5G network test group. Unfortunately, for now it is still unknown whether Maxis uses the 5G network developed by DNB, or their own network infrastructure.
Anyway, Maxis seems to be preparing to introduce their 5G network, and if it is true that it can now be used in areas like Tanjung Karang, the probability is that they are ready to scale the service in more areas.
