Garmin Malaysia has today launched six new smartwatches under fēnix 7 and epix which are fēnix 7 Pro series and epix Pro series (Gen 2). All these watches have more or less the same specifications with significant differences only in the screen and design.
Garmin fēnix 7/7S/7X Pro,
The watch comes with a 1.2” (240 x 240), 1.3” (260 x 260) or 1.4” (280 x 280) screen. The screen is protected with Power Sapphire solar sapphire glass that can provide extra power when exposed to sunlight and has 32GB of storage. As always Garmin uses their own watch operating system with Connect IQ app store support.
The durable design remains on the fēnix 7 Pro series with a reinforced polymer fiber body, titanium frame and surpasses US military standards for heat resistance, shock resistance and 10 ATM water resistance. The watch strap used is a silicone type.
Garmin claims that the smartwatch mode gives battery life up to 37 days and if using GPS it can last up to 89 hours. This watch also comes with a built-in LED flashlight for the purpose of exploring the forest in the dark which is also helped by a built-in map.
Like other Garmin fēnix 7 watches, this watch also comes with a lot of features and great tracking functions with various built-in sports modes. Various sensors are also loaded such as the fifth generation pulse scanner sensor. Features such as ClimbPro, PacePro, endurance count with VO2, health reports, exercise recommendations, real-time stamina information, cycling tracking, SpO2 and more can be used.
The fēnix 7 Pro series can also provide notifications, play music, support battery saving mode, have GPS with offline maps and among the interesting things is advice to avoid jet lag when traveling to other continents.
The Garmin fēnix 7 Pro series is sold in Malaysia at prices starting at RM4450 for the fēnix 7 Pro and fēnix 7S Pro and RM4950 for the fēnix 7X Pro.
Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2)
Epix Pro (Gen 2) has more or less the same specifications. The most significant difference is that this model uses an AMOLED screen and there is no built-in solar technology. The screen size is also the same 1.2” (390 x 390), 1.3” (416 x 416) and 1.4” (454 x 454) but with Gorilla Glass protection.
The construction material is slightly different with the stainless steel frame. Although the design of the epix Pro looks simple it is still durable and supports 10 ATM water resistance.
Battery life can reach 31 days and 82 hours for GPS mode. Other features such as LED flashlight, PacePro, ClimbPro, maps and GPS are retained. epix Pro also supports Garmin Pay, but this wireless payment feature is still not supported in Malaysia.
In Malaysia Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) 42mm and 47mm are sold at a price of RM4950, while 51mm at a price of RM5440.
