Gfycat, one of the services that focuses on sharing animated GIFs, has now announced that they will end the service on September 1, 2023. After that date, all content and data on Gfycat will be completely deleted.
For Gfycat site users, you are advised to download your data before that date.
Previously, Gfycat was started in 2013, and subsequently offered a number of features, including the facility to send GIF content through messaging applications, including Skype and iMessage.
In 2020, the Gfycat service was taken over by Snap, the company behind Snapchat. The reason for the termination of this service is not specified at this time.
