Android KitKat or Android 4.4 was launched in 2013 and believe it or not after 10 years there are still devices running this operating system. Recently, the Android developer site informed that as of July 2023, the use of Android KitKat devices is below 1%.
Because of that they decided that starting August 2023, Android KitKat will no longer receive Google Play service updates. Play Services APK files will no longer be updated for Android KitKat after version 23.30.99.
This does not mean that you can no longer use Android KitKat devices. Only after August, all security updates like Google Play Protect, Play Store updates etc. will no longer be supported. This puts the risk of a data breach or security vulnerability could occur.
