Maxis has now stated that it will sign an access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad in an effort to offer 5G networks to their users. This step was taken because there are no other options for 5G offerings at the moment.
This move was announced by Maxis through their latest Stock Exchange filing. Maxis is the only telecommunications company that has not yet signed an access agreement, and still does not offer a 5G network to users for now.
Previously, Maxis had postponed the cooperation agreement due to several things. Now, with the government's move to state that the second network will be developed under a new firm after DNB's coverage reaches 80% of the populated area, it seems that Maxis is also making strides in using DNB's infrastructure first before other options.
Maxis aims for this access agreement to consume operating costs of around RM360 million per year.
