Maybank in a recent statement advised the public to be careful with the existence of fake accounts on social media, especially Facebook. It follows the presence of several fake Facebook accounts that use the modus operandi of impersonating Maybank Customer Service for the purpose of fraud and deceiving users.
The existence of these fake accounts is said to spread misleading content that can compromise security and privacy. For example, like being given a fake link to access to complete the transaction. Accordingly, Maybank advises the public to be more careful not to deal through these fake social media accounts. At the same time, it is also requested not to click on any suspicious links.
Maybank said authorized customer service representatives will not share any suspicious links. In addition, they will also not arbitrarily ask users to share personal information such as name or password.
