Meta Willing To Cooperate With MCMC To Deal With Online Crime And 3R Content

It was previously revealed that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is about to take legal action against META, regarding the alleged failure of the concerned party to deal with the issue of harmful content on social media. According to SKMM, the Facebook platform was found to be plagued by a significant amount of harmful content involving the 3R elements, namely Race (race), Royalty (King).

However, it has found a solution after holding a meeting with META which was also attended by PDRM on July 4. Through it, META has expressed its commitment and availability to give full cooperation to SKMM and the authorities in dealing with the issue. It is also hoped that this cooperation will be a starting point to prevent many criminal issues that are becoming more prevalent, while also taking care of user safety.

In the meantime, the Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil also shared the amount of losses incurred by Malaysians until May 2023 through the META platform has reached RM330 million. This amount has increased 25% higher than in the last year of 2022.
