Microsoft Default Typeface Changed – Hello Aptos, Goodbye Calibri!

Microsoft introduced the Calibri typeface fifteen years ago to replace Arial as the default typeface for their products. Time has passed and the need for a new typeface that is more compatible with modern screens has to be done. Today Microsoft announced the new Aptos typeface family that replaces Calibri on Microsoft 365 software.

Previously Microsoft tested five new typefaces Bierstadt, Grandview, Seaford, Skeena, and Tenorite. Based on user feedback, Bierstadt is the popular choice and it now officially uses the official name Aptos.

Aptos is now the official default typeface on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel software. The selection of this new typeface is done to meet the needs of devices with higher resolution screens, so sharpness, uniformity and can be used on various types of screens are necessary. For Calibri fans, they don't have to worry because this typeface can still be selected through the menu in the software.
