The most basic plan offered to users in Malaysia is "Mobile" at a price of RM17 per month. Above this plan is "Basic" at a price of RM28 per month. But in Canada, Netflix began testing with this Basic saddle no longer offered to users.
In Canada users of the Basic plan now have to subscribe to the more expensive "Standard" plan or the cheaper but ad-supported plan. In developed countries like Canada, smartphone-only plans are not offered to consumers.
Experiments like these are often done by Netflix on a small scale before offering them to everyone. The best example is adding a profile to prevent passwords from being shared in Malaysia which was previously tested first in the South American country.
