After a year of Nothing Phone (1) was launched tonight the second device was officially launched with higher specifications. Nothing Phone (2) once again maintains the iconic transparent design with a light on the back that has yet to be followed by other manufacturers.
Phone (2) comes with a bigger screen than Phone (1) which is 6.7" OLED LTPO FHD+ with HDR10+ support and an optical under-screen fingerprint scanner. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip paired with up to 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage and a 4700 mAh battery that supports 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The device's camera remains a dual-camera configuration, now with a 50MP Sony IMX890 wide-angle sensor with OIS and a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide-angle sensor. The selfie camera is a 32MP Sony IMX615. Only the wide-angle lens comes with an OIS stabilization system.
Phone (2) runs Nothing OS 2.0 based on Android 13 with support of 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches. The Glyph lighting system has also been updated with support for 33 lighting zones, moving according to timers, supporting flashlight modes and even creating your own ringtones through Glyph Composer.
Although the design of the device looks the same, the back panel is actually slightly curved and the body of the device is slightly thicker. The construction materials are aluminum and recycled plastic. The device also passes IP54 waterproof and dustproof standards, compared to IP53 on the Phone (1). For audio, this device is equipped with stereo speakers but without Dolby Atmos support and no 3.5mm audio jack.
Nothing Phone (2) is seen to be offered with two color options which are white or dark grey. The sale price starts at $599 which is around RM2792 for 8/128 GB. The sale price in Malaysia will only be announced on the day of its launch next July 14.
