Razer is investigating claims they were hacked after data they claimed belonged to them was offered on the dark web. The data in the form of source code, encryption keys, and Razer's site database has been offered for around US$100,000 in Manero cryptocurrency.
More than 400,000 Razer Gold accounts are also among those offered by sellers complete with email addresses. Razer said that after an internal investigation, they will report this incident to the authorities for action to be taken. They have also taken action to ensure that all their platforms can be used safely.
The authenticity of the data sold has not yet been confirmed but it is highly likely that it was data stolen after Razer was hacked in 2020. For users of the Razer platform, the step that can be taken is to change their account password immediately.
