Shutterstock, known for its image, video and music licensing offerings, is now announcing a 6-year partnership with the developers of ChatGPT, which will also offer their content in training artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI.
With this move, OpenAI can use high-quality material including relevant metadata in training artificial intelligence, and use it in various offerings – including Dall-E and ChatGPT.
As part of this collaboration, Shutterstock will also receive early access to DALL-E technology, and use it in product offerings to their users – including using artificial intelligence to edit photos or create new content.
Shutterstock and OpenAI will also collaborate on offering artificial intelligence-based generative features through the GIPHY platform.
With these two announcements, it is not impossible to see OpenAI continue to license content from other parties in order to continue to improve data quality – and at the same time avoid lawsuits over copyright infringement.
