The Sony WF-1000XM5 earphones were officially launched late last night. This year updates were made not only on the TWS features but also on its physical size. Compared to the WF-1000XM4 model, this year's audio bud is more compact to provide a tighter connection to the ear.
The improvements made to the software will offer a better noise cancellation (ANC) system according to Sony. There is a bone flow sensor on the body of the ear bud that allows the wearer's voice to be heard more clearly when used for voice calls. With Dynamic Driver X, high-resolution audio experience, DSEE and spatial audio can be enjoyed. Supported codecs are SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3.
There is a touch pad on the side to control the music. Phone calls can be picked up by the user by just bowing his head. For Android device owners, Fast Pair tethering is supported built-in. Like the majority of modern audio products, the WF-1000XM5 supports the addition of two devices simultaneously. It can also be used for sports because it passes the IPX4 standard.
In terms of battery, each ear bud can last up to 8 hours. With the help of the storage pod, operating time up to 24 hours can be enjoyed. Charging for 3 minutes can offer up to 60 minutes of use. TWS can be recharged using a USB-C cable or Qi wireless.
In Malaysia it is sold at a price of RM1399 in black and silver with the offer of a free passport holder given with every purchase and a chance to win a Sony ZV-1F camera.
