Spotify No Longer Accepts Subscription Payments Through the Apple App Store

Spotify today began sending emails to Spotify Premium customers who make payments through the Apple App Store, Variety reports. In the email Spotify said they no longer accept payments through the App Store. If you belong to this group, Spotify urges you to stop the subscription at the end of the billing cycle before re-subscribing outside the Apple ecosystem.

Spotify no longer accepts new subscriptions through the App Store since 2016. So this change only affects users of the Apple ecosystem who subscribed before that year. If the change is not made, the account will automatically change to the free version which limits various features that are only given to Spotify Premium customers.

This step was taken to avoid Apple continuing to take a 30% profit on each subscription which makes it more expensive when compared to payment through a telco for example.
